Bio:
Sharon is a senior instructor in the Mary Black School of Nursing at the University of South Carolina Upstate. She graduated from Clemson University with both a BSN and a Master of Science in family health nursing with a focus on maternal infant in the Clinical Nurse Specialist track. She has more than 38 years work experience with a combined 28 years of experience in obstetric, pediatric, and women’s-health nursing. Her work accomplishments include advancing a community hospital from Level I Perinatal Services to Level II. She is a 2009 University of South Carolina Amy C. Cockcroft Leadership Fellow and has been awarded the Daisy Faculty Award. Her research interests focus on developing a health-care center to serve community health in the multi-user Second Life virtual world, as well as conducting research on the effectiveness of virtual simulation as an effective modality of teaching. She has presented her research at conferences across the United States.
