Dr. Josh Ruppel teaches organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, organic spectroscopy, and undergraduate research courses. His research interests include the development of transition metal catalyzed organic transformations, the synthesis of a new class of porphyrinoid compounds to study their interaction with proteins associated with certain types of cancer, and chemical education. His research has been published in peer-reviewed publications such as Journal of the American Chemical Society, Journal of Organic Chemistry, Organic Letters, and Tetrahedron Letters, among others. Josh regularly engages undergraduate students in his research, providing valuable hands-on laboratory research experiences for those students seeking placement in graduate and/or professional school, or seeking employment in a technical scientific field after graduation.
