Bio:
A native of North Carolina but with deep family roots in South Carolina, Dr. Robert B. McCormick holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from Wake Forest University and a Master of Arts and Ph.D. in history from the University of South Carolina. Dr. McCormick teaches a wide range of modern continental European history courses. He has published on topics such as early 20th century reform in Macedonia, genocide in Croatia during World War II, 19th century German music, and an evolution controversy among Presbyterians in 19th century South Carolina. He is the author of “Croatia under Ante Pavelić: America, the Ustaše and Croatian Genocide.” This book examines America’s relationship with Ante Pavelić, the leader of Croatia from 1934 to 1959. His most-recent research explores racial justifications for opposing America’s entry into World War I. These arguments were featured in The Scimitar, a paper published during World War I in Abbeville, SC.
