Dr. Alexander Lorenz is an assistant professor of German at the University of South Carolina Upstate. He holds a Ph.D. in Germanic Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned a Master of Arts in Modern Languages and Bachelor of Science in Education. Having an interest in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition, he likes to incorporate new pedagogical approaches in his German language classes. He has practical experience working as a freelance translator in a variety of fields and teaches translation courses at USC Upstate. Dr. Lorenz is of Volga-German descent and teaches about German global migration. Additionally, he has an interest in German for the Professions and STEM.
